Xiaomi is one of the leading brands in the world when we factor in the case of cheap smartphones. In fact, the company has made a name for itself by providing reasonably priced devices packing very impressive specs. And now, the company is determined to provide the smartphone world the option of cheap 5G devices – the Mi Mix 3 5G and the Mi 9 Pro 5G being the prime examples – however, even cheaper devices are expected to hit the market next year.
Xiaomi’s CEO – Lei Jun stated recently that Xiaomi is indeed working very hard in providing cheap 5G phones, with him saying that all of the company’s smartphones that will bring along a price tag of $285 or more will go on to offer 5G connectivity.

With this statement in mind, one would have to imagine that the company’s early 2020 flagship devices like for example the successor to the Mi 9 will go on to offer 5G as that device will indeed fit the price window that the company’s CEO has given. It has also been confirmed that the upcoming Redmi K30 too will feature with 5G connectivity, however, as far as the launch date or the price goes – we’re still in the dark.
It is also possible that Xiaomi may launch yet another Mi Mix device in the first half of next year, however, nothing is confirmed just yet.
The company’s CEO also reiterated his firm’s initial plan of launching at least ten new 5G capable devices in the next year alone. This is good news for the market as people will be provided with more and more options. Exactly what route the company goes down remains to be seen for now, however, one would have to imagine that with a company as motivated as Xiaomi – we will see many cheaper options.
