Xiaomi to reportedly enter in race of foldable phones. In a recent publication by ET Times it is revealed that Xiaomi is working on a foldable phone. According to publication, this could be the beginning of a “Korea-China Tech War” as companies of both countries are racing towards the throne of being the first company to launch a foldable smartphone.
Before this revelation, Samsung and Huawei were known candidates for the expected foldable phones and now, it has been exposed that Xiaomi has also joined the race.
As per ET Times details, Xiaomi is keenly seeking components for a foldable phone. For example, some common requirements such as hinges and flexible OLEDs are just one part of a foldable phone and these parts are confirmed to have been vigorously sought by the Chinese company in recent times.
According to industry analysts, Xiaomi might ditch LG and follow Huawei’s footsteps to get OLEDs from BOE Technologies, which is a Chinese display manufacturer based in Korea. Now you can understand, why ET Times has called this a Korea-China Tech War as each company might also have patriotic reasons to be the first company.
Let’s see which company comes up with a foldable phone winning the crown of being the pioneer of the technology. Furthermore, the country from which the company belongs is clearly going to get qualified as a hub of innovation as well.

In the report, ET claims that Xiaomi’s foldable phone will hold a “fold-out” pattern. Samsung’s and Huawei’s foldable models are supposed to have a fold-in structure.
Samsung’s foldable smartphone might be named as the Galaxy “X” and is likely to be a memorial model for the 10th anniversary of the flagship Galaxy series. The phone is predictable to feature a 7-inch display. According to rumors, it will cost in excess of $1500.
Talking about Huawei’s foldable phone, well it has just been in the rumor mill after being officially confirmed by the company’s Consumer Business President a month back.
In this regard, industry sources have declared that Huawei’s major objective is not to get profits from the phone; they just want to outpace Samsung.
On the other hand, Xiaomi has just reportedly enter to this race. The company is known to offer value for money. Their smartphones are famous for offering many features at lower price in the market.
