Smartphone manufacturers have different ways to get their product to market and different ways to promote it. However, some go to odd lengths to showcase the distinctive features of their products to consumers. One of the companies, Xiaomi thought it would be a great idea to send their phone to space, and promoting which feature you ask, well its their SONY sensor of 48MP.
Some manufacturers take photos of famous landmarks like the Eifel Tower or the Taj Mahal, others take it on a Mount Everest trek to get photos of mountains, however, Xiaomi is one-upped everyone in the industry with this promotional stunt. The company’s CEO Lei Jun posted a video of the process where three units were nestled to a gas balloon and launched into space.The company’s Europe team sent the smartphone up in the space in a hydrogen balloon at the altitude of 33,375 meters and temperature of -60°C. The smartphone took photographs of the earth from space. The CEO has claimed in his post that the phone was still working properly when it returned back to the base.

For those of you, who aren’t aware of the phone, Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 features a 6.3-inch full-HD+ (1080×2340 pixels) 2.5D curved glass display with 19.5:9 aspect ratio, Gorilla Glass 5, and waterdrop-style notch. It is powered by the 2.2GHz Snapdragon 660 octa-core SoC coupled with Adreno 512 GPU. The phone has 3GB/ 4GB of RAM and 32GB/ 64GB of inbuilt storage. The storage space can be expanded further up to 256GB via microSD card.For the camera department, the Redmi Note 7 in China is equipped with a dual camera setup a 48 MP primary sensor and a 5 MP secondary sensor on the rear side. Up front, there is a 13-megapixel selfie sensor as well.
