Xiaomi is no stranger to introducing all sorts of phones. From curved ones to popup cameras to other unique designs. Xiaomi has shown that it is more than capable enough to be competitive in every smartphone field. In accordance with this determination, just when the other companies started introducing gaming-centric phones, Xiaomi knew that it was their turn to get into this business as well.
So, that’s when the first Black Shark was introduced. The name is a quite striking one and the design inherits that characteristic. Now, one year later, Xiaomi has unveiled the Black Shark 2 to the world with a similar striking design and beefed up specs to compete with the likes of Asus’s gaming phone, the ROG phone 2. Actually, apart from the design and some cooling system differences both devices are exactly the same. The Black Shark 2 has the new Snapdragon 855+ chipset which is recently announced keeping in mind gaming. The RAM can be specced up to a monster 12 GB. The storage stats are amazing as well with the device topping it up at 256GB with UFS 3.0 which is the fastest form of storage tech in smartphones.

One thing to note is that you wont be getting the incredibly high refresh rate of the Asus device and rather this one is at 60Hz so no chance of playing games above 60FPS. The design has seen some tweaks with some extra RBG LEDs installed which light up occasionally. The battery is also pretty decent at 4000MAH. When we look at pricing is when we realize that it wants to be more affordable then to compete with the ASUS phone as it comes around at $435. In the current state, ASUS still has the winner in its hands.
