So rumors surrounding the WhatsApp’s dark mode has been surfacing around the web for a long time now and even though the company has not announced the availability of dark mode officially, the mode has been spotted on WhatsApp beta version 2.19.353.
WABetaInfo, who are known for their meticulous analysis of the platforms beta and alpha versions, have recently taken to Twitter to tweet that “I am happy to exclusively give the good news: WhatsApp is finally working on a Dark Mode! It is a dream”.
The development of the platform team has been working on this particular feature for months now. The new dark mode has to be activated manually, however, it can also be used in automatic mode in correspondence with the smartphone’s energy-saving mode which also acts as an automatic input. Smartphones running on Android 9 or older versions will have the Dark Mode tied to the smartphone’s battery levels. It will be activated automatically when the smartphone is running low on battery and will be disabled when the battery levels are normal. Users will get three options to choose from: ‘Set by Better Saver’, ‘Light Mode’, and ‘Dark Mode’.

The feature has not yet been made publicly available unfortunately, we don’t have any information regarding the global rollout of the update. However, we are expecting an official announcement soon, so stay tuned.
