When the Pocophone F2 made its debut just last year in the mid of 2018, it was on the receiving end of a lot of attention. There has been no doubting the fact that the first ever phone from new Xiaomi sub-brand was a massive hit, and come to think of it, there weren’t many reasons to see why it wouldn’t be as such : it featured with the very best hardware in the Snapdragon 845 chip, a 6.18 inch display and a massive 4000mAh battery to round it all off. Of course, the most attractive part of the device was that all the good came in a price of just $300.
Now with the success that followed with the Pocophone F1, one would’ve had to imagine Xiaomi welcoming the thought to a successor of the device, right? Well, so hasn’t been the case.
It’s been more than a year since the Pocophone F1 made its debut, and there have been no suggestions that its successor in the Pocophone F2 would be launching anytime soon. So then the question arises – what exactly is causing the delay for the successor to one of the – if not the most popular smartphone launches of last year?

Well, there have been rumors that Xiaomi might have been waiting for the Qualcomm 855 Plus to be more readily available to OEMs, so that it could integrate that within the Pocophone F2. This is a cause for the delay as Qualcomm surprised many with the release of the Snapdragon 855 Plus – and it is all but possible that Xiaomi too was caught by surprise, and couldn’t react soon enough.
Internal changes have also taken place within Xiaomi ever since the Pocophone F1 was subject to release, and this might too have contributed to the delay for the F2. In July, it was reported that Jai Mani – who happened to have been the leader of the Poco sub-brand departed Xiaomi after five years of service. The departure of Mani might have affected the sub-brand’s release schedule.
Like I’ve stated before, no one knows exactly when to expect the Pocophone F2, and while many have been waiting on for some news – we’ve unfortunately got none. Considering the fact that the Pocophone F1 was one of the most popular devices of the year 2018, it comes as no surprise that many were awaiting the launch for its successor. However, for now, while there is indeed some speculation, nothing is concrete. All in all though, we can only hope that there is news soon so we know exactly what Xiaomi has in store for us.
