So according to the World Health Organization (WHO) health was defined by the organization as “Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.” WHO, 1948.In the year, 1986, the WHO further defined health as “A resource for everyday life, not the objective of living. Health is a positive concept emphasizing social and personal resources, as well as physical capacities.” What is Health and what you can do maintain a good health profile!
So by the aforementioned statement by the WHO, health is a resource which is there to support an individual’s function in the whole society. A healthy and meaningful lifestyle provides the means to lead a fulfilling life. In recent times, researchers have defined health as the ability of the body to adapt to new threats and infirmities. The researchers clarify this by relating to the idea that modern science has dramatically increased human awareness of diseases and how these diseases have worked and developed in the last few decades or so. Moreover, Health is furthered defined in to two broad categories, physical health and mental health.
Physical Health:
Now a person who experiences physical health is a person whose bodily functions are working at the very top of his performance. This may be due to him not facing any particular diseases but on top of that another main reason for a peak in physical health is to exercise regularly, have a balanced diet and enjoys, adequate rest, which means not to much rest nor to little rest. We receive treatment, when necessary, to maintain the balance.
Having a good physical persona means pursuing a healthy lifestyle in order to decrease the risk of incurring any possible disease. To maintain a decent physical fitness, you will have to protect and develop the endurance of a person’s breathing and heart function, muscular strength, flexibility, and body composition.
Physical health and well-being also help reduce the risk of an injury or health issue. Which means that you have to stay away from, drugs, tobacco, drinking and other means which may lead to future problems.
Mental health
Moreover, another main type of health is that of the mind. Mental health basically means a person’s emotional, social, and psychological well being. Mental health is as important as physical health to a full, active lifestyle. It is much-much harder to define mental health in comparison to physical health, as, in many cases, diagnosis depends on the individual’s perception of their experience. With improvements in testing, however, some signs of some types of mental illness are now becoming “visible” in CT scans and genetic testing.

Mental health is not only the absence of depression, anxiety, or another disorder. It also depends on the ability to, enjoy life, bounce back after difficult experiences, achieve balance, adapt to adversity, feel safe and secure, achieve your potential and other factors which in turn help develop a good mindset, because when it comes to anything, mindset is everything even in health.
Furthermore, it should be understood that both physical and mental health inter-linked. If chronic illness affects a person’s ability to complete their regular tasks, this may lead to depression and stress, for example, due to money problems.A mental illness such as depression or anorexia nervosa is likely to affect body weight and the body’soverall function. It is important to approach “health” as a whole, rather than its different types.
Having an overall good health depends on many factors which have to be in order to achieve a healthy life setup. Moreover, a person is born with a wide range of genes, in some people, an unusual genetic pattern can lead to a less-than-optimum level of health, which is also something which should be considered when taking about health. In addition to that, environmental factors also play a significant role. On many occasions, the environment alone is enough to impact one’s health and the environment is capable of causing deadly diseases. Other times, an environmental trigger can cause illness in a person who is genetically susceptible.
Access to healthcare plays a role, but the WHO suggests that the following factors may have a bigger impact on health than this, where a person lives, the state of the surrounding environment, genetics, income, education level, relationships with friends and family
These can be summarized as:
The social and economic environment: Including how wealthy a family or community is, the physical environment: Including parasites that exist in an area, or pollution levels, the person’s characteristics and behaviors: Including the genes that a person is born with and their lifestyle choices
Moving on, the WHO say that, the higher a person’s socioeconomic status (SES), the more likely they are to enjoy good health, a good education, a well-paid job, afford good healthcare when their health is threatened all our linked to health and hence is something which is associated with overall health. On the other side, people who have a lower socioeconomic statuswill most likely experience stress which is correlated to the daily living, such as financial difficulties, marital disruption, and unemployment, as well as social factors, such as marginalization and discrimination. All these add to the risk of poor health.
A low socio-economic status often means less access to healthcare. People in developed countries with universal healthcare services have longer life expectancies than people in developed countries without universal Healthcare. Culture believe it or not is also linked to with health, issues in the culture such as societal preassure are also seen to be damaging to health. The traditions and customs of a society and a family’s response to them have either a good or bad impact on health depending on the emphasis laid on culture by the elders of the family, while some may be welcoming to a culture others might not, perspective matters people and when someone’s perspective is not appreciated, well we have a simple question, How would you feel if your perspective was ignored?
It is therefore very important to note that how a person approaches a particular opportunity or problem, whether he is positive or negative is really important, most of the time a positive attitude will save you from incurring stress and emotional triggers, which in turn cause some serious effects on health. On top of that people who smoke, drink, or take drugs to forget their problems are likely to have more health problems than before, than someone who combats stress through a healthful diet and exercise.Men and women are both prone to different health factors. In societies where women earn less than men or are less educated, they may be at greater risk than men for poor health. So all in all anything or everything is associated with your health, it all depends on how you choose to see the world, so let loose, have fun and try not to think too much about anything, always maintain a positive attitude, exercise, indulge in physical activities, talk it out and you should be good to go.
