Coming on over from The Washington Post, a prominent journalist, who goes by the name of Geoffrey A. Fowler has conducted a series of tests with regards to battery life, and these tests have been carried out with the most popular smartphones at hand on the market today. With these tests in mind, Fowler has actually made the conclusion that some of the new devices fared worse than some of their old counterparts.
It wouldn’t be hard to imagine that newer the phone, more improved the battery life – however, this isn’t actually the case. Surrounding the Android world, according to Fowler, both the Google Pixel 2, and the Pixel 2 XL have been tested out as having better battery life when compared to the newer of the flagship phones from Google – the Pixel 3. However, credit where due, it was also found out that neither of the Pixel 2 or indeed the Pixel 2 XL fared well as the Pixel 3 XL.
As far as iOS is concerned, it was found out that Apple’s latest flagship phone – the iPhone XS didn’t fare well as the iPhone X of last year. As a matter of fact, interestingly enough, it was found out that the iPhone 8 comprehensively beat both the iPhone X and the XS Max.

One interesting thing to note is, as remarkable as it sounds, the iPhone XR topped the charts – the entire list of tests when it comes to battery life, as the phone beats the top Android device, the Samsung Galaxy Note 9, as slight a margin as you could imagine, though.
So all in all, there have been some surprising results. And also when taking into consideration the whole of the charts available, there is a clear indication that bigger the phones, better the battery life, and this does make a hell of a sense, since these bigger phone do usually have a bigger battery.
If you have any sense of disregard for the tests, or indeed the journalist that carried them out, then you should know that they were carried out with extreme care. Fowler went on to use a light meter so that every device would come with the same level of brightness. He then went on to use a script to make sure that all the devices in question would scroll through web pages.
