Get virtual clothing on your reflection with Amazon’s blended reality mirror. On Tuesday, Amazon got granted a patent for a blended reality mirror which –according to the tech giant– could superimpose virtual clothing onto your reflection. This very mirror would also be capable of placing the user in a virtual scene, like a beach or a some restaurant, to match a dress with the occasion.
The mirror teased by the company would be using a combination of mirrors, lights, projectors and displays as well ss cameras to project the image of some of the certain setting onto the display, as per the patent.
The patent does read that these visual displays could be used to alter scenes as been perceived by the users, for example, by adding up objects to the scene that do not in fact exist.
While it is not still clear where does these virtual clothes come from, this could potentially be a new way for Amazon to get sold out more apparel. In the recent years, the company has rolled out so many of its own in-house fashion labels. Fashion labels such as James & Erin women’s clothing and Franklin & Freeman men’s dress shoes are all associated with Amazon the giant of tech.

The device could serve as a style assistant to help you decide what the wear to wear. It has also a voice-controlled camera that will snap pictures of you in some different outfits and this camera works alongside an app.
After you have taken photos of you in 2 outfits, the Echo Look’s built-in Style Check tool decides which one does look best on you. It does use a combination of machine learning tech & human fashion specialists.
On the other side, many of other retailers are also featuring some smart mirrors in stores. For example, Rebecca Minkoff’s connected store concept has mirrors that gets double as touchscreens, allowing their customers to browse persinality looks, hues and sizes.
