So after the re-shuffling of the ministers in Pakistan carried out by the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan, the new appointed Federal Minister of Information Technology is Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui who has replaced Fawad Chaudhary (the now minister of Science and Technology) to the seat. So in the first few meetings, the new Minister chaired the meeting of the 63rd board of directors meeting at the Universal Service Fund(USF). The meeting took place on Monday and included other well known and influential people, including the Federal Ministry of Information Technology, Maroof Afzal. USF has approved the motion to award new project Telenor in Pakistan
Moreover, the board decided upon the approval of contract which is to be given to Telenor in regards to the NG-BSD( Next Generation Broadband for Sustainable Development). This in turn is an initiative to provide internet to the under served locations in Pakistan, one of which is Dadu, which is set to get the new service. In addition to Dadu, other identified cities include Jamshoro and Thatta.

Furthermore the meeting also approved to provide the award of contract to the telecom company in relevance to the NG-BSD NH and MW Lot 2 (N-25 and 65) and the other district NH and MW Lot 3 (N-50 and N-70). Finally the board of Directors also approved the motion to award the contract to Pakistan Mobile Communications Limited(PMCL) in contrast to the under provided area of South Waziristan which will also get the taste of Internet Technology for the first time. The area has seen a lot of major resources and innovations go sideways from the area due to excessive war in the past few years, now with the area cleared of war, the area is set to receive benefits which have long been forgone by the state.
