Unsurprisingly the most famous sports in the world, football has shown to us all fanatics why it deserves this title, specially how the season has gone away so quickly. There have been numerous moments of magic, drama, surprise and heartbreak. It is safe to say that this season was as entertaining as football has ever been!
Starting off with the premier league, which is claimed to be the most competitive and entertaining league in the world because of the level of competition and the intensity of the matches. It was a fierce race between Manchester city and Liverpool, City beating their rivals to the finishing line, while Liverpool finishing a proud second, just one point behind the leaders. This marks back to back titles for Guardiola’s city team. Then comes the race for the top four spot to secure champions league for the next season, the contenders of which were Manchester united, Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham. All the teams lacked consistency in the finishing stages of the league and it did go down to the wire as well with the final two spots been given to Chelsea and Tottenham while United and Arsenal will be playing the Europa League next season.

Flying to Spain with La Liga, another extremely competitive league with Barcelona’s domination on display throughout the season as the heavily rely on Messi’s performances who doesn’t fail to deliver. The post-Ronaldo era for Real Madrid got to a rocky first season and the only thing that they would consider as a silver lining would be the reappointment of Zinedine Zidane who left a lasting legacy as a player and also as a coach, and now could focus on recruitment of world-class players to bring Real back to where they belong.
In other leagues, it was another comfortable league victory for PSG who ran riots in the Ligue 1, while Bayern had to fight off a resilient Dortmund to get their hands on the Bundesliga trophy.
The most surprising of this year’s competition was undoubtedly the Champions League which saw Ajax on a scintillating run knocking out Real, Juventus and then falling to another dramatic game against Tottenham. Barcelona also fell short of the final, being knocked out by Liverpool’s amazing comeback. The finals for both of Europe’s competition would be between all-English sides as Liverpool face off Tottenham in the Champions League final while Arsenal and Chelsea face off in the Europa League final.
Another major tournament to look forward to this summer will be the Copa America, which might be the last couple of chances for Messi to win for the national team and end his drought. Anything and everything Is expected, so stay tuned and experience football as it creates more memorable moments.
