UNIDO awarded 5 Pakistani innovators based on their work in clean technologies

UNIDO awarded 5 Pakistani innovators based on their work in clean technologies. Pakistani youth has great potential in the field of technology and this year many tech innovators hit the list with their amazing contribution to this field. That’s why five awards have been presented to the most talented Pakistani innovators by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) under its Global Clean Tech Innovation Programme (GCIP) in the field of the clean technologies.

Recently an award distributing ceremony was held in Islamabad to appreciate and encourage the amazing contribution of the five most promising Pakistani innovators in the field of clean technologies.

What is clean technology?

It is also termed as Cleantech, clean technologies usually used to describe a set of technologies that either reduces or optimizes the use of natural resources, even as at the same time reducing the harmful effect that technology has on the planet and its ecosystems.

The clean technologies play a significant role to oppose the harmful effects caused by the augmented intensity of climate change these days. Thus the need for support and motivation to innovators working in this field has also greater than before.

GCIP nominated five different categories to reward the innovators. First prize was awarded to ‘Modulus Tech‘, the inventor of a new low-cost design of energy efficient houses. These houses have ability to be accumulated in just 3 hours, which means you can create cost-effective colonies within a month.

‘Biotech’ which was the runner-up team, also came up with a good idea to build a dual function solar system for rural areas which can run water pumps and flour mills

The ‘Industry Challenge Award’ was presented to ‘Bitsym Bitpredict’ which came up with an industrial process of an error detection information system. Another award was offered to the ‘Crean’ which has developed the technology for the utilization and renewal of old batteries.

‘Aerosync’ was the startup which got the specific award for the most promising team led by a woman. The award was given by Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The startup has developed an idea for a modern solar power cart which will be used by pavement street vendors.

Federal Secretary for Climate Syed Abu Ahmed Akif shares his views with the participants of the event and said,

“The annual competition fosters green entrepreneurship and supports marketable solutions that address the most pressing global environmental challenges.”

More than 200 high ranking officials including dignitaries, ambassadors, and international donating agencies attended the award distribution ceremony. Nadia Aftab, the Country Representative of UNIDO Pakistan also shared the agency’s vision on energy and environment in endorsing clean technologies.

With advent in technology, the effect of global warming and climate change is rising fast and scientists think that Earth might turn out to be a ball of fire after 600 years. Therefore more efforts are necessary to get amazing out of clean technologies.
