University of Management and Technology UMT is going to introduce the startup culture for the first time in Sialkot via their BizPlan Challenge 2017. The two-day event will be held in the Sialkot campus of the university between 26 to 27 August.
The competition has three rounds will offer participants in the first round to pitch their ideas to the judge, in the second round they will present their Lean Canvas, and in the last round presentations on the Pitch, Deck Model will be included. While the judges will be highly reputed industrialists, business gurus, startup mentors, and financial experts from across Pakistan. Top three ideas will be awarded Rs.100,000, Rs. 50,000, and Rs.30,000 respectively.
Two workshops will be also included in the BizPlan Challenge, with a purpose to help participants improve their ideas, a seminar on ‘Globalization of Sialkot: Prospects & Challenges’, and SialFair, including product stalls by local businesses, start-ups, and entrepreneurs.
Home of the famed UMT Brazuca, Sialkot, is known as the most self-sufficient city. The local business community has developed their own Airport, Dry Port, and launched its own private airline company in 2016. The city has been a little behind in terms of the startup and entrepreneurship boom in the Pakistan. It is expected that events like the BizPlan Challenge and the opening of new universities will help this city to contribute positively to the local community.
