In the latest turn of events, in a story which has gone on to shock many, the Chairman of the Disciplinary Panel Justice (retd) Fazal-e-Miran has took the decision to ban middle-order batsman Umar Akmal – brother of famous Pakistani cricketer Kamran Akmal. This decision follows with the fact that the player will not be allowed to take part in any form of cricket for the next three years.
The player, who is currently aged 29, was on the receiving end of misconduct charges as he proceeded on the appear before the Disciplinary Panel at the National Cricket Academy which happens to be situated in Lahore. He was placed before the panel on Monday and the panel decided to go with the three year ban.
While still relatively young at 29, Umar Akmal has been a controversial figure. With that said, the player has also represented his country numerous times. Indeed, he has played for Pakistan in 16 tests, 121 One Day Internationals (ODIs) and has also made 84 appearances in T20 internationals (T20Is). As a result of the appearances he has made, he has managed to accumulate a score of 1,003 in Tests, 3,194 in ODIs and has managed to score a total score of 1,690 in T20Is.

The cricketer made his last appearance for Pakistan in a test match nine years ago, all the way back in September of 2011. This appearance came courtesy of a match played between Pakistan and Zimbabwe. On the other hand though, his last ODI appearance is much more recent, as he represented Pakistan in an ODI played against Australia on the 31st of March, 2019.
Umar was to feature in the fifth edition of the Pakistan Super League and was to play for Quetta Gladiators. However, PCB intervened as the decision to suspend the player and into affect on the 20th of February of this year and the board suspended him with immediate effect under Article 4.7.1 of the PCB Anti-Corruption code.
