Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau took more than 20 seconds to answer a question relating to the US President Donald Trump’s response to the ‘Black Lives Matters’ protests in which he suggested that he shall be calling out the military against the protesters, he said in a conference held onn Tuesday.
Trudeau then composed himself and responded that Canadians are full aware of the current situation and that they are seeing the events in the US with horror.”We all watch in horror and consternation what’s going on in the United States,” he said at a daily news briefing after a reporter pressed him on Trump’s idea of using soldiers against protesters.
A reporter also asked for a comment from the Prime Minister on the teargas attack on the US protesters on Monday “to make way for a presidential photo op. In response Trudeau said that, “It is a time to pull people together, It is a time to listen, to learn what injustices continue despite progress over years and decades.”In addition,he also talked about the need to fight and end racism in his own country as well, as he has been doing since the killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis last week which sparked a huge number ofprotests and riots.

When a reporter asked for further comment on Trump’s words and actions, Trudeau said: “My job as a Canadian prime minister is to stand up for Canadians.”Trudeau has always been on the forefront,taking about how important an objective it is to end racism but his re-election campaign was almost derailed last September after pictures of him in blackface from years earlier emerged.
Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland, a former reporter, separately defended the work of American journalists who have been targeted by both police and protesters.On Saturday in Minneapolis, Reuters journalist Julio-Cesar Chavez and Reuters security adviser Rodney Seward were struck and injured by rubber bullets.
“Journalists are not the enemies of the people; journalists serve the people,” she said at a news conference. It should be noted that Donald Trump has explicitly targeted the media in the past, Last year in April he even went as far as addressing the press as “truly the enemy of the people”.
