After the launch of the Redmi Y3 smartphone, it now finally seems that Xiaomi is also looking to take the covers off from the Redmi 7 – another one of the company’s budget devices. The phone has quite the attractive features, including the likes of a tall aspect ratio, a quite large sized battery, and a dual camera setup on the back – all this for the mere price of $114.
While the Snapdragon 632 processor happens to be found under the hood of the Redmi Y3, the same processor is also found in the Redmi 7. This processer features with up to 3 gigs of RAM along with 32 gigs of internal storage. Talking about storage, the phone also has the option for expandable storage since it featured with a dedicated slot for adding a microSD card. On the software front, the phone features with the MIUI 10 flavored Android 9 Pie OS.

The dual camera setup on the back of the device consists of a 12MP primary lens and a 2MP depth sensor. These dual rear cameras features with stuff like dual-tone LED flash, AI portrait mode, AI scene detection and full HD video shooting at 60 frames per second. On the front of the device we have an 8MP selfie camera which features with stuff like auto HDR, along with AI driven features like beauty mode, portrait mode as well as face unlock.
The phone has two options with regards to the security : a rear mounted fingerprint scanner, and face unlock. And as far as connectivity is concerned, the device offers the support for dual-SIM, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, MicroUSB 2.0 and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
The Indian market will have two variants for the phone – one with 2 gigs of RAM along with 32 gigs of internal storage, while the other variant will come with 3 gigs of RAM and 32 gigs of internal storage. The models are priced at approximately $114 and $129. The smartphone also features in a range of different colors – with the likes of Lunar Red, Comet Blue and Eclipse Black.
