Just last week, Huawei made history by launching its first ever 5G capable device – the Huawei Mate 20 X 5G. Coming in as an upgraded version of the Mate 20 X – the only difference between the two is the fact that the latest of the devices from Huawei features with 5G.
Very soon after the announcement for the phone was made from the Chinese manufacturer, it started the process of taking reservations for the device ahead of the first sale in China – which will take place on the 16th of August.
One would have expected that Huawei was to get a decent enough response when it comes to the reservations part – as the first sale was to take place in its home country – however, with the response in mind, I don’t think Huawei was expecting more than 300,000 reservations for its Mate 20 X 5G smartphone. This not only goes on to give Huawei quite the sense of accomplishment and solace when taking into consideration the way things have been for the company over the course of the past few months; but it also takes into account as to how eagerly the Chinese market has been waiting for a 5G device from the company.

Like I stated above, apart from the support for 5G, pretty much everything else in the Mate 20 X 5G remains the same as the previous Mate 20 X. The device goes on to feature with a 7.2-inch HDR Full HD+ display coming with a screen resolution of 2244 x 1080 pixels – and it also comes equipped with the Huawei M pen. The device also features with Vapor Chamber along with Graphene Film cooling, dual speakers featuring with Dolby Atmos. It also has an IP53-rating.
As far as the processing capabilities for the phone go – it is powered by Huawei’s very own Kirin 980 octa-core processor, featuring with Balong 5000 5G modem – this being the same configuration that powers the recently announced Huawei Mate X.
In the camera segment, the phone comes with a triple camera setup on the back, which consists of a 40MP primary sensor, along with a 20MP sensor – and finally, an 8MP sensor. On the front of the device there is present a 20MP snapper for the purposes of taking selfies as well as video calling.
The phone will run Pie-based EMUI custom interface right from the box, and it will be powered by a 5000mAh battery – which also has the luxury of SuperCharge fast charging technology. The price of the phone is around $900.
