Stamping has, for a long time, been a very time consuming and manual task that has slowed down the tasks that follow and ultimately made an entire operating slower than it was supposed to. Stamps have been a difficult paper to get and that’s partially because there was no formal way of obtaining such an important document, and thus, people resorted to dubious ways to get the job done. However, this had been corrected a few years ago when the PITB, or the Punjab Information Technology board, started the e-stamping system which was a huge success and all it required further was the education of the system to the people so that they can make good use of it and get high value non-judicial and judicial stamp papers in easy steps. This also became a major revenue generator for the province.
The steps are something like this:
- Fill Challan Form 32-A on e-stamping website es.punjab.gov.pk. Print the form.
- Take the printed form to the Bank of Punjab.
- Get eStamp paper from any branch of Bank of Punjab in District Gujranwala after paying the due charges.
This system has reached a huge milestone as posted by Sajid Latif on his Facebook Page. The total e-stamp issued crossed the 5 million benchmark yesterday. The total revenue that this feat generated was Rs138.5 Billion. Sajid Latif mentioned all those involved in the project including BOR head Shoukat Ali, E-stamping team leaders Ali Mzahar, Hassan Hamdani, Haider Ali and others. Sajid Latif congratulated everyone involved and wished good luck for the future benchmarks.
PITB takes great pride in its e-stamping system and the revenue that it has so far generated. It has made numerous steps to make the verification of stamps easier through mobile apps and has successfully educated vendors to examine the validity of stamps. Here’s to a future where we can celebrate more of such milestones!
