This startup raises $25M led by GV to speed up customer support, Did you ever heard of a startup that makes software to improve customer support? UJET, is that kind of start up and it had raised a $25 million Series B led by GV (known as Google Ventures).
Other participants in the funding round do include returning investors Kleiner Perkins & DCM Ventures alongside new backer Citi Ventures.
The funding round brings total raised of UJET so far to more than $45 million. UJET us a San Francisco-based startup (is not to be confused with an electric scooter company having the same name). UJET would use the capital to scale its business & open a New York office the next month and (a point to be noted is that) European Union headquarters of UJET in the 2nd quarter of this year.
UJET’s software lets its customers reach support agents directly in a smartphone application, on the web or by phone set. Anand Janefalkar, founder & chief executive officer of UJET, says that the company gives equal priority to all the channels, so customers can get the same quality of service whether they start some in-app chat or call an 1-800 number.
At the start of a chat or call, support agents are provided data about customers so they do not have to ask basic questions. For instance, Janefalkar said an Internet of Things app developer might provide its agents with customer’s device type, battery life, location & device ID to help them troubleshoot the errors. Fo protecting information, UJET is SOC 2 Type 2 & HIPAA certified and the agents can also verify the identity of customers with their fingerprint, passcodes as well as Apple’s Touch ID and Face ID.

The company is of the view that its tools can help companies significantly reduce the amount of money they do spend on customer support. For instance, UJET claims that it has helped parking reservation application SpotHero cut its telephone expenses in vary half and reduce cost of training its agents. Its other clients also include Blink, (the smart home security camera maker) owned by Amazon, & video doorbell Ring.
Other startups that recently have raised large rounds of funding to make the customer support less painful for every one involved, include Intercom, which as per Crunchbase has received $115.8 million so far from investors such as Bessemer Venture Partners & Social Capital, and Helpshift. Helpshift has raised $38.5 million from Nexus Venture Partners, Intel Capital, Microsoft Ventures, Salesforce Ventures and some others.
