While there is little doubting the fact that Sony goes on to make some very capable smartphones that might even challenge the very best that are offered by companies such as Apple and Samsung, for some reasons, the company just isn’t doing well when it comes to sales. The latest financial results for the company’s second fiscal quarter – or the general third quarter of this year if you may, is showing some very concerning numbers with regards to the company.
In accordance to a recent report, Sony has managed to sell only 600,000 smartphones from the start of July to the end of September. To give you an idea as to how concerning these numbers well and truly are – just consider the fact that Huawei in the year has managed to ship 600,000 smartphones every day in order to arrive at its total number of 200 million units by the end of October.

Of course, like many, the company too was expecting a much better performance than what has actually panned out. Initially, Sony estimated that it would sell five million smartphones in the third quarter of this year however the company took down its expectations to four million after it suffered through a bad second quarter. Here we are now, with the actual numbers which have been accumulated being just 12 percent of the original estimate.
With the conditions so bad, there are now serious questions whether or not Sony’s mobile division will even survive through the next year. There already has been news that the company has been shutting down plants while it has also been shifting division categories in an attempt to hide the losses that have been incurred as a direct consequence of the lack of sales. One would have to imagine then that if things don’t change for the better soon, these strategies won’t be of too much use as they are already proving to be unsustainable.
