It has been almost six months since the US Government trade ban came into affect. A direct consequence of this ban has been that Huawei’s ability to both produce as well as sell devices has been hugely affected. The prime example of this coming in the form of the Huawei Mate 30 – Huawei’s latest flagship series aren’t even allowed to ship with Google services – and as you’d have imagined, this was always likely to take a toll on the sale numbers – as proven too.
Now though, it looks as if things might be taking a turn for the better for the Chinese manufacturer – as the New York Times is reporting that the president of the United States : Donald Trump has started to approve licenses for several firms that happen to be based in States and want to deal with the Chinese company. As a result of these licenses, the US firms will have the opportunity to supply “non-sensitive” good to Huawei.

Ever since the announcement though, it is still unclear whether any company has received the license that would allow them to work and deal with Huawei. However, there are rumors that the US Commerce Department contacted the New York Times in an email which said that : “as of right this moment, the status quo holds.” As ambiguous as this statement might be, it might possibly be suggesting that everything is likely to go down sooner rather than later.
Regardless however, this won’t exactly be the first time that Trump would approve some sales to Huawei, as the President also previously stated all the way back in June that some US companies can deal with the company based in China. Ever since that announcement in June though, it seems as if no licenses were granted by the US government. And so it’s only smart that this time round, we believe the news of resumed business ties when it actually takes place.
