Sindh Minister for Education announced new strategies for education system. Non-formal education centres are going to be established in Sindh as per the words of Sindh Minister for Education and Literacy Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar. Dahar has promised the number of these centres to be 450.
On the other hand, Sindh Education Foundation (SEF) is also being reported to be establishing almost 1,000 non-formal education centres in Hyderabad, Badin, Thatta, Sujaswal and Mirpurkhas for the children do not go to school due to financial or any kind of problem.
At the time he was presiding over the 6th meeting of the Sindh Curriculum Council held on Wednesday, he informed us about the plans being made to enlighten the thoughts of people with thr help of education.
Curriculum Wing Head Dr. Fouzia Khan, Board of Intermediate & Secondary Education Hyderabad (BISE) Chairman Dr. Muhammad Memon, Mushtaque Shahani & Agha Sohail were also present in the meeting.
Error free text books from class I to VIII have been finalised according the information discussed in the meeting. It was also discussed in the meeting that currently the printing process is undergoing.

While the textbooks from class IX to X are under the review process which will be available for the upcoming academic year.
Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar stressed upon the participants to design research-based textbooks for the students. He also suggested to hire well qualified and experienced coordinators, experts, editors and subject specialists for this purpose. The minister also pointed out that the current books were overloaded and have technical and grammatical flaws, which need to be corrected if we are aiming at a bright future of the our students.
Moreover he directed that textbook papers should be of high quality and should meet international standards. He also added, “All efforts should be made to improve assessment process and curb cheating in exams because without overcoming this issue we cannot produce better teachers and students,”.
Dahar said that at the time of board exams, school teachers should move to another school for invigilation, instead of the students having to move to another school. In this way students would be able to save their time and parents would be free from unnecessary trouble.
During the meeting, it was also decided that the schools will focus more on using technology in the classrooms and the Sindh Text Book Board will be establishing a mechanism for seeking feedback from schools, colleges, writers, and editors to help in designing the syllabus.
As per the directives from Minister, “The syllabus should be improved and designed in a way to make it more attractive to the students”.
