Sidra Iqbal joined South Asian Conference on Sanitation (SACOSAN-VII) as the lead moderator. Promoting goodwill for the masses, Sidra Iqbal has always been a part of campaigns and programs that create awareness for the betterment of people. Sidra is also the Curator of Raabta ~ a public diplomacy initiative by Serena, that is focused on inclusive and informed dialogues on the themes of Culture, Economy and Future. Sidra will be the lead moderator at the South Asian Conference on Sanitation (SACOSAN) hosted by Pakistan happening from April 11-14, 2018 in Islamabad. The conference is focused on South Asia Sanitation Plan 2030. It’s an honor for Pakistan to host such a conference for the second time, which will create awareness for the masses suggesting the solutions too. Previously it was held in 2006 in Islamabad, Pakistan.
To generate a political will towards better sanitation, South Asian Conference on Sanitation (SACOSAN), a government led biennial convention held on a rotational basis in each SAARC country (Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka). - To accelerate the progress in sanitation and hygiene promotion in South Asia;
- To reiterate political commitment in each country of the region for furthering the sanitation agenda;
- To share experiences and lessons learnt in sanitation and hygiene promotion
“It’s really important to promote proper sanitation ethics to the masses and I fully support the initiatives taken by SACOSAN for this purpose and am proud to be the lead moderator at such an event which will provide betterment for people,” stated Sidra Iqbal
The previous Sacosan’s were held at Dhakka(Bangladesh), Islamabad(Pakistan), New Delhi(India), Colombo (Srilanka), Kathmandu(Nepal) and is set to held in Islamabad for the second time with the theme “Safe sanitation in South Asia-Plan 2030”.
