Another day, another controversial statement by Shoaib Akhtar. Although, his playing days are over, he doesn’t shy away from drama off the pitch. He is one of those who is not afraid to say controversial things outright and does not fear any backlash, which after the commemoration of his YouTube channel, he has received a lot. His views on the conditions of Pakistan cricket and his analysis have made quite a million followers!
The latest claim from his side has been that he was surrounded by match-fixing, and the poor condition of the Pakistan Cricket Board is partially due to match-fixers. According to the Rawalpindi express, he was offered 2 s-class Mercedes, a flat in Fulham and a million dollars to fix a match. To which he replied with a good beating and shut the door behind him.

The 44-year old has shared his fear of not being able to trust his own players and felt that he was playing against 21 players and not 11. Around the same time was the scandal of Muhammad Amir, Muhammad Asif and Salman Butt who were found guilty of fixing a match during their series against England. This came as a shock as all the players were shining bright, and with Salman and Amir still young they had a potentially bright career ahead of them, but all that took a turn for the worse as they were suspended from playing International Cricket for a lengthy period of time.
Regardless, Shoaib Akhtar believes that match-fixing is a massive concern which hinders the path of a Cricket Board and has had similar impacts on PCB. In his statement, he said
I was offered a million dollars, 2 S-Class Mercedes and an apartment in Fulham to fix a match. I closed the door and gave the guy who made the offer a beating.
I was always of the belief that I can never cheat Pakistan, no match-fixing. I was surrounded by match-fixers. I was playing against 21 people – 11 their players and 10 of our players.
