So one thing that probably Android users would have from the iOS would be the AirDrop option that Apple offers to their users. With that in mind, users should know that major smartphone companies such as the Korean giants Samsung are working to release their own versions of the pretty efficient feature. Now for those of you who do not know how AirDrop works they should know that this particular feature gives allowance to users to quickly share their files with one another devices by other means than just WiFi and Bluetooth. Now in accordance with a recent report from a pretty reliable source known as XDA Developers, Korean giants have also been found to be working on a feature which has similar characteristics, a feature they have dubbed as ‘Quick Share’ and this feature will work on all Samsung smartphones. They were able to test the new feature thanks to an APK running on a few Galaxy phones.

Quick Share will be developer to give users the ease of transferring files in an instant with nearby devices but of course just AirDrop, Samsung’s feature will  be exclusive to only their phones and tablets. The only requirement is that both the phones need to be running Quick Share with the visibility on both devices, sort of like Bluetooth but faster. According to the report, there are set to be two options made available to choose from which include “Contacts Only” and “Everyone”. Contacts Only will let users share files and media with other Samsung Social users in your contacts, whereas Everyone will allow file sharing with anyone who uses a Samsung device in your area.

Here’s the catch though, unlike Airdrop, Quick Share will have the ability to temporarily upload files to the Samsung Cloud. These files can in turn be downloaded locally or streamed to the Samsung Smart devices. These files can be as big as 1 GB with a total upload limit of 2 GB per day. Quick Share is expected to roll out once the Samsung Galaxy S20 series goes official and older devices will get the feature as part of the One UI 2.1 update
