Samsung has unveiled a new rugged mobile phone at this year’s BAPCO (a UK-based public safety technology event). But you carry on enjoying your fragile smartphone because this rugged phone by Samsung will not be available for you ever.
PR for the company kept mum about the product and even at the unveiling ceremony of the phone, Samsung didn’t disclose the name of the product. However, the company claimed to have given some desirable features to this product, alongside the inclusion of a massive swappable battery.
This anonymous rugged mobile phone will be deployed to front line emergency staff such as police officers, fire fighter and paramedics as part of the roll-out of the Emergency Services Network (ESN). The company has divided to come uo with such kind of a smartphone after getting chosen by the UK Home Office late last year, to supply phones for the network.
The current ESN services that is known as Airwave, will be phased out and will get replaced by “Public Safety-LTE” 4G, which will be allowing for new features such as live video broadcasting alongside quicker access to records and intelligence.

This new phone, though unknown till yet, will be fit for an outdoor lifestyle, as it is likely to be based on an existing Galaxy range –most likely the A or J-series, & definitely not the Active version of the Galaxy S9–, with some unique features such as a push-to-talk button and the largest battery on any Samsung phone: a 4500mAh removable unit with provision of an ease of swapping out in the field.
According to the reports collected from BAPCO features of the phone also include a back cover held by a single screw, and pogo-style connectors for instant charging, alongside a USB port, and physical navigation buttons that are great for use with gloves. The phone also features front and rear cameras supported by a triple LED flash. According to the expectations, this phone can take more than a few knocks thanks to an IP68 rating & MIL-STD-810G compliance.
