It is no secret that Samsung has been having a tough time in China, however, there was no way that the company would give up on the world’s largest market. The company’s latest flagship device – the Galaxy S10 was announced in China on the 28th of February and went on sale on the 8th of March. The number of orders for the Galaxy S10 just 15 minutes after the phone had actually gone on sale represented a number greater than what the Galaxy S9 achieved on the opening day sales last year.
Now, Counterpoint Research has released data which showcases that it wasn’t just on the opening day that the Galaxy S9’s sales were overtaken by its successor, as there is information which states that the sales that the Galaxy S10 series have enjoyed in between that of March and May 2019 have gone on to exceed what the Galaxy S9 managed in the same period.

In the second quarter, around 16 million S10 mobile phones were sold all around the world – this representing a 12 percent increment on the number of sales that the Galaxy S9 managed in the same period last year. For all the sales that the Galaxy S10 has managed, the S10+ seems to be the more popular model with it accounting for 42 percent of the sales, while the S10 accounted for 32 percent and finally, the S10e accounted for 22 percent sales. The rest of the four percent was occupied by the Galaxy S10 5G edition.
The success that the Galaxy S10 has enjoyed in recent times is only likely to continue, and there is now the growing belief that the S10 could even end up helping Samsung to seize more market share, with the company’s flagship mobile phone currently having a 25 percent market share.
