If you’re a citizen of Lahore and have violated traffic signal then you must have got your e-challan at your door step. Since, about 87000 challans have already been issued and who knows you could be on e of them?
As, Punjab Safe City Authority (PSCA) e-challan portal is live, and will make it easier for citizens to view and print their digitally-produced traffic fines.
Now you can check the details of your e-challan, by visiting “echallan. psca.gop.pk” on a web browser to get all the relevant details of your ticket. To my surprise, this website has been optimized for smartphones too, so you can log-in this website using any device.
How this e-Challan system will work?

The e-challan system uses PSCA cameras on traffic signals to automatically send fines to traffic violators. It scans the vehicle’s number plates and then sends at your home address which is registered against your vehicle number.
It’s shocking to reveal that despite having a narrow scope and been launched in a single city, the service has already issued 87,000 challans in a short time period. Moreover, you will get another shock to know that all e-challans worth Rs. 11 million, according to official figures.
Well, it’s a good initiative taken by Pakistani authorities that they are digitizing their regulatory systems. Currently the service only available for citizens of Lahore but it might take some time before e-challans start rolling in other cities, including in Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Peshawar, and Karachi.
The objective behind this step is to improve Lahore’s traffic condition, as it has been continually out of hand of government for many years. Moreover, the provincial authorities have also introduced lots of improvements in Lahore’s traffic system recently, like penalizing parents who allow their children drive. They have also increased fine rates for violators by up to 2000% to overcome the rate of traffic violations.
According to official data, new measures seem to be working as the rate of traffic violators has reduced over the weeks.
