Being strict about registration has enabled the government to be able to add to the database a lot more people and has also been able to cut down on smuggling situations by searching through the database of registered IMEIs and if one is not matching than that device is held in custody.
But that’s not the end if it. The government has realized that rather than registering all SIMs, people are only registering their primary SIMs which excludes the SIMs in the other slot in dual SIM phones. The government has now advised the people having more than one SIM/IMEI slot, where one IMEI slot is registered and the second is not, to submit requests to the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority before August 31, 2019 for registration.

The PTA would be evaluating all requests and all the valid requests would be registered by the deadline. After August 30, 2019 SIM slots wont be registered. The government has also assisted the people and given them a very easy way to check the status of their mobile device by dialing *#06# and SMS each 15 digit IMEI to 8464. Following this method would allow people to go through absolutely no hassle and be able to register all the SIM slots of their devices since now multiple SIM phones are present and not just two. By sending the message, the PTA would be able to add your IMEI to their database and your phone will be officially registered without any problem or trouble.
