So just a while back days, Lu Weibing, told us that the Redmi K30 will launch with a built-in 5G capability when the device inevitably launches in the market, however, there are now some speculations that the upcoming device will arrive later in the year seeing as the time between successors for Redmi phones is no longer a year. However, to our surprise an official announcement was made today which basically said that the phone will not launch this year but rather it will launch in 2020 when 5G becomes a norm in most developed countries.
Moreover, the said announcement was made in a post stated in Weibo and according to the post that the Redmi 5G phone will arrive in 2020. Although by the looks of the post there is no mention of the expected device which will house the 5G modem, specifically the K30 note However, we can deduce that the Redmi K30 will not launch this year since it will have 5G support and no 5G Redmi phone is expected to launch this year so technically we will have to wait for the next year. There is also no fixed date announced by the company so we are also not sure whether the device will arrive in early 2020, mid 2020 or on the later stages but seeing as how most companies are gearing up for the 5G era it may be in the early stages of the new year.
Following the inevitable launch of the Redmi K30 5G smartphone, it is believed that more people will become able to purchase for themselvesa 5G ready device. In addition to Redmi it is also believed that HME global is also preparing for a launch of there own 5G ready device so It will be interesting to see which company will launch the phone first
Moreover the upcoming Redmi K30 is expected to arrive alongside a more premium version of the device, more specifically the Redmi K30 Pro, and it is also believe that the Pro version will also have support for 5G networking. However, while the Redmi K30 Pro won’t have an issue with what chipset the company chooses to put in possibly the (Snapdragon 865), the Redmi K30 sort of does. There is no mid-range chipset with a 5G modem as yet so we cannot confirm which processor will power the new device . We do believe Qualcomm or MediaTek will be announcing mid-range processors with 5G modems before end of this year.
