The Realme 2 Pro is one of the most dominant devices that the company has produced. The phone itself came after only a few months after the company launched their Realme 1 device and it was pretty strange for users to see Realme 2 series launch. The major differences between the Realme 1 and the Realme 2 are probably the addition of the fingerprint scanner and the dual lens camera but they equaled that out by downgrading the chipset and for the new version they actually shrunk the resolution. Moreover, enter the Realme 2 Pro which is a complete restart of the approach they took for the Realme 1, the company established new priorities and added new features which go well with the phone. So let’s get in to more depth regarding the said phone.
Realme, a Shenzhen-based Chinese smartphone maker is expanding its reach in Pakistani market by providing affordable handsets. Realme is on a mission, the mission is to be competitive with other mid range companies and they do this by offering consumers a very good offer. Their most recent creation, the Realme 2 Pro smartphone offered customers a great performance and some good features to go along with that performance. The Realme 2 pro the phone which we will discuss today is out in the market to compete. Moreover, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chipset will attract many consumers in to buying the phone, considering the PKR 46,999/- price tag the phone goes for. It also has big display and a decent battery life.
Unboxing
Unboxing the phone is a pretty standard procedure with no real surprises. Opening the box, there is the sim card ejection tool, a clear case, along with some start up guides. After getting rid of that is when the phone finally appears in all its glory. This is followed by a standard charger and USB cable, with no headphones in the box. It might be disappointing for some but at this price point REALME can be forgiven.
Design and Display
So the phone packs a large sized, 6.3 inch screen which is a TFT LCD technology and has a screen resolution of 1080×2340. The phone does have a notch but it is bit sized, a tiny ‘dewdrop’ notch can be seen on the top of the phone which actually really suits the phone design. The overall design of the phone is amazing and is one of the main reasons why users like the phone so much. The device also has a really good screen-to-body ratio of 90.8 percent. At the price the phone currently goes for a lot of people will be happy with design of the phone.
The back of the phone is replaced with what is dubbed by the company as the ‘Dewdrop back cover’ which is a polycarbonate material back which goes really well with the device. The three colors available for the device are Ice Lake, Blue Ocean and Black Sea.
Hardware and Specs
In terms of the hardware of the phone, we see a massive upgrade. The latest model comes packed with a Snapdragon 660 SoC, upgrading from the Snapdragon 450 which we saw in previous models. The phone comes loaded with an 8GB Ram and a composite 128GB of storage. The phone also has a massive 3500mAh battery to give the users an ample supply of run time. The phone has a dual camera which is 16MP and a composite aperture size of F/17 and also has a 16MP selfie snapper on the front of the phone which has an aperture size of F/2.0. The phone currently runs the Google Android 8.1 coming along with a Color OS 5.2. It should be noted, while 3500mAh may seem enough for users, it is actually a downgrade, considering the fact that the Realme 2 contained a 4250mAh battery.
The phone has an amazing performance overall and gives users a great experience. What users will be disappointed with is the fact that the phone has a Type-C mode of data transfer and
charging which is a big factor, considering that most of the phones of the future will come with the Type-C and that is definitely the mode of transmission in the future. There is also no NFC, meaning that there is no Google Play support, but that is acceptable, given the price of the phone.

Camera features
The camera of the phone is much better than we expected. The phone’s camera actually performed pretty well. Photos have good saturation and contrast, and the low-light performance was surprisingly impressive. I tried tripping it up a few times and it consistently bested me. This of course is thanks to that f/1.7 aperture, which is also what allows for some good natural depth effects.
There are also a bunch of beauty mode effects for those interested, including the option to beautify multiple people in a single shot. It’s great if you have a lot of ugly friends.
The biggest drawbacks in the camera department are the relatively low detail when you zoom in on distant objects, and the all-over-the-place exposure. This significantly neuters the benefit of the 16MP selfie camera, which would have otherwise been ideal for vlogging and such. This obviously isn’t going to be the camera phone of choice if you spend a lot of time on social media, but it’s also not horrible.
Conclusion
The
device itself is quite quick and responsive so no love lost in that
department. The battery consumption of
the phone is stable and provides users with ample of amount of time to use. One
of the other features that we think is quite nice is that the phone’s lock
screen, you need to make an additional swipe after you have used the
fingerprint scanner. Moreover, the general experience of using the phone is
fine and what many users would expect to get with a phone coming at the price
the Realme 2 Pro goes for and so overall it provides a decent experience.
