August 31 was the date decided to block all unregistered IMEI slots that were not registered and that meant a lot of dual sim phones. People were quick to follow the initial deadline setup by PTA with regards to the registration of their primary SIM. However, the other SIM slot was discarded as being unnecessary. However, PTA has reiterated the need for people to also register their second SIM slots within the given timeframe, which has just been extended to 15 more days till 15th September, 2019.
The process is also made easier by the email process which registers devices:
send an email at typeapproval@pta.gov.pk with following details:
- Subject of email should include: “One slot registered 2nd slot not registered”
- Screenshot of device showing all IMEI(s)/device box with IMEI(s) printed on it
- Copy of CNIC
- Contact details of applicants

Pakistan Telecommunication Authority would be checking all requests and after the initial validation the process would go forward with the registration of the device. After September 15, no SIM slots would be registered anymore.
In order to check the status of your mobile device, dial *#06# and SMS each 15 digit IMEI to 8484. Additionally, the feature is already present in the settings menu, in the about tab, where the IMEI number of the number of slots present in the phone is mentioned. This number can be sent to 8484 to check the status of their phone, whether it is registered or not. PTA has strongly suggested that all the mobile devices with all their SIM slots be registered by given deadline as no further notices would be given nor will their be any deadline extensions. It is in the best benefit of the people and the country that the government has all the necessary data of the user in order to be able to make a complete profile of each individual.
