Pakistan Telecom Authority has been very vigilant in recognizing content that they consider to be worthy of blocking which includes anti-state, anti-judiciary, and blasphemous content. Digging deeper into the official document released by PTA majority of the websites have been blocked due to pornographic content. Other types include 11,000 websites which contained anti-state contents, more than 50,000 pages hosted anti-judiciary and 50,000 were found with blasphemous content. The rest can be assumed to be filled with pornographic content.

In order to be more aware of such websites that go against Pakistan’s religious and judicial standards, PTA has been working with numerous other government institutions which can access a portal to directly lodge a complaint. This way PTA is aware of these websites through various different sources. When such a complaint is given, PTA takes the necessary steps to block the webpage. Additionally, PTA has also enabled citizens to report any websites that show blasphemous, anti-state, ani-judiciary or pornographic content to be able to block it. This can be done by emailing the link of the website to PTA. info@pta.gov.pk.
Not only this PTA has put telecom operators on alert to notify them of any such malicious activity so that they can take action on it. After the extensive blockage it was found that most of such content is linked with Facebook and Twitter accounts. Thereafter, PTA has brought the issue to the notice of Facebook and Twitter who have promised to be cooperative about dealing with it and that they would make sure that such content would not be spread anymore. One thing to note here is that Facebook itself takes such things under notice as it always keeps an eye out for such content and would prefer staying away from any controversy.
