So one person who has truly played a vital role in bringing back International Cricket to Pakistan would be the former West Indian skipper and the current Peshawar Zalmi captain, Darren Sammy, who has truly been a true friend of Pakistan. The captain has left no stone unturned in his bid to once again light the stadiums of Pakistan.
He was not only one of the few first few foreigners who were willing to come to the country for the cause but in addition to that he also provides much needed PR, by making posts on Facebook and Instagram showing the world the beautiful country that Pakistan is and how it is safe for everyone.
In a bid to thank the man, Peshawar Zalmi Chairman, Javed Afridi, has requested the current President of Pakistan, Arif Alvi, to grant Sammy honorary citizenship of Pakistan.
He did this in a formal request to the President, giving him the reason that Sammy was not only the first player to step ahead in bringing PSL to Pakistan, but he also loves the country from the core of his heart and has done so much to portray a good image of Pakistan to the world.
The two times T20I World Cup winner, Darren Sammy will be representing Peshawar Zalmi for the 4th year in a row. Peshawar have also won the PSL with under his leadership back in 2017. It should also be noted that followers in Pakistan often call him Darren Sammy Khan for the love affair with Peshawar Zalmi and the role he has played in the franchise’s success over the years.
