After a lot of criticism faced by PM Khan over the omission of free medicine of fatal diseases introduced by Shahbaz Sharif, PM Khan has now finally responded with a health plan for people with disabilities. PM Khan reiterated his government’s initiative of lifting the conditions of the weaker segments of the society.
I have seen that whenever a poor person gets sick, his entire household is destroyed as most people don’t have the money to pay for the cost of treatment. I realised that paying for cancer is so difficult for rich people that I can’t even imagine how hard it must be for people who don’t have money. We want to cover everyone and provide health insurance to all.One should ask him if Pakistan was created in the name of Islam or to be developed into Asian Tiger. We have to make Pakistan an Islamic welfare state that is based on Riyasat-i-Madina. I keep repeating this because I want everyone to know what it was. It was a modern state with humanity and justice as its founding principles.

DR Zafar Mirza, Special assistant to the PM, said that collaboration between the Ministry of National Health services and Ehsaas Programme would be very benficial as it would allow disabled individuals to get numerous benefits through health cards. According to the health plan, all persons with disabilities will be provided free-of-cost health insurance to secure in door health services upto rs720,000. The Sehatinsaf card would include open heart surgery, insertion of stents, management of cancer, neurosurgical procures, burn management, accident management, dialysis, intensive care management, deliveries, C-section and other procedures. There is allocation of Rs10,000 per death for burial if the death happens at the hospital. It is a great initiative which requires constant management to allow poor people to take advantage of free health services and be able to live a healthier lifestyle.
