The rumors, for all the world seemed to be so concrete about Google launching a Pixel watch to go along with its latest and upcoming flagship phones, the Pixel 3 and 3 XL, which are due to be launched in a very short period of time. However, as the far as the case goes along for a new Pixel watch coming; we’re not so sure this would actually be happening, for this year at least. It just so happens that we’ll probably have to wait a tad bit longer for the Google smartwatch, if the latest reports are anything to go by, which are of confirmation, anyways.
It seems that Google will be focusing on the improvement of the wear OS, and will work with different manufacturers, to show off the new hardware. As I said, the reports that state that we won’t see a Google smartwatch are confirmed, and this came about when Google’s director of engineering for wear OS, Miles Barr stated:
“To think of a one-size-fits-all watch, I don’t think we’re there yet. Our focus is on our partners for now”
While it seems that Google hasn’t given up on smartwatches, having just delayed the prospect, it seems like Huawei is in the same waters, because it doesn’t seem like the company has at all given up on smartwatches. Richard Yu, the CEO of Huawei confirmed of Huawei’s plans, in a recent interview, which took place with digital trends. Not only this, but he also went in to mention that the company is working and improving smartwatches, before finally releasing a new one.

“Yes, but it needs more innovation, and we are working on that”, the company’s CEO stated, clearly indicating that it is only a matter of time before Huawei release its own smartwatch.
Huawei’s CEO further went on to state the following:
“We want to make bigger improvements and make the experience much better than today. That’s my target. We want to make the smartwatch more useful, more intimate, more functional, and with much longer better life. Today we have two days battery life. I hope to have one running for a week. We want much better performance, and more usability”.
So it’s obvious that Huawei is serious about the prospect of providing a more than capable smartwatch, and provide the very best of companies with regards to smartwatches a run for their money. Whether that turns out to be the case, only time will tell.
