Just before the LG V40 ThinQ was launched last year, the device made an appearance on Geekbench. The benchmark result had at that time revealed that the phone would run Android Oreo out of the box, and this in turn disappointed many potential customers and the mobile phone world as a whole.
The phone was launching two months after Pie was released, and being a flagship coming at an obvious premium price, pretty much everyone expected the phone to pack Pie right out of the box. Other manufacturers, like Huawei were also gearing up to launch their own flagship phones, with these coming with Pie Pre-installed, and believe it or not, the flagships with Pie did have a certain edge over the V40 ThinQbased on software only.
And still, eight months after the release of Pie and six months after the release of the LG V40 ThinQ, we’re still yet to see Google’s latest software running on LG’s flagship phone. However, just yesterday, the Korean company did actually reveal the update schedule for the phone along with other V-series phones, consisting the likes of the V30, V30s ThinQ, and the V35 ThinQ.

In accordance to the source, the four phones from LG will receive the Pie update by the end of June – 10 months after Pie being released.
At the current moment of time, there are only two LG phones that have been updated to Android Pie : the LG G7 One, and the LG G7 ThinQ. One of the major factors contributing in the G7 One getting the update was because of the fact that it is an Android One phone.
If LG well and truly wants to be a force to be reckoned with in the smartphone market, the company has to improve on how quickly it updates its devices. Putting things into perspective : if flagships are getting updates several months after their release, what can we expect from mid-range and entry-level phones?
