It has been a couple of months now since a disastrous Pakistani World Cup campaign which saw Mickey Arthur and company do not receive extensions on their contracts leading to the hunt of a new coaching team. The board formed a five-member panel which was to shortlist the names from all applicants and then send it to the PCB Chairman Ehsan Mani. Although still at the speculative stage, Misbah Ul Haq is the strongest contender for the job and is dubbed to be one to be appointed as Pakistan Cricket Team head coach.
Other candidates include Australia’s Dean Jones and former head coach Mohsin Hasan Khan. This could be seen as a no brainer since Misbah Ul Haq seems to be given the edge here because of his success as a captain and the modern form of cricket thinking that he could possibly instill in the team.

There is no forgetting the World Cup campaign which was criticized over selections and then over performances. With rumors circulating then that the Chief Selector role would also be vacant following Inzamam Ul Haq’s controversial stay on the post. However, that is for a later time.
With regards to bowling coach, former coach Waqar Younis is the most likely candidate while others include West Indian Legend Courtney Walsh, Yasir Arafat and Jalaluddin. Waqar Younis, who have held a coaching job in the senior team before seems to be the right fit compared to the other choices that they have and announcements are to be made today, Wednesday.
This coaching setup is to be first tested in the upcoming limited over series against Sri Lanka and would give the fans a better idea of how the new look Pakistan team would look like at home against a tough opponent.
