Every student’s dream is to visit or study in some prestigious institute around the world but it is not possible for many. Getting a scholarship is like the fulfilment of one’s dream but as they are not easy to get one has to chase after the scholarship programs. All thanks to USEFP’s Fulbright scholarship program for fulfilling such dreams.
What is Fulbright and how can you apply:
Fulbright is the flagship scholarship program of the United States. It is managed by the United States Education Foundation in Pakistan (USEFP). Its purpose is to send Pakistani students and give them a chance to study in The United States of America’s university. This program includes scholarships for Masters and PhD programs. Fulbright provides complete funds for the student’s tuition fee, required textbooks, airfare, a living stipend, and health insurance, and also facilitates them for the visa process.
Students can now apply for the Fulbright’s program for a chance of studying in US university for the semester of fall of 2018.
For applying all you have to do is fill and submit the form online and also attest some required documents with the form to completely enter the scholarship program and to complete the process. Also, there are some certain criteria one has to fulfil before applying:
Eligibility Criteria:
- Permanent citizens of Pakistan with strong academic histories, residing and working in Pakistan and committed to returning and serving Pakistan
- For Masters: Persons who have a completed 16 years of formal education. Recent graduates are strongly encouraged to apply except for MBA applicants
- For PhD: Persons with 18 years of formal education. It is highly desirable that candidates have work experience in teaching, research and or the public sector in Pakistan
- All disciplines except for clinical medicine are eligible to apply. However, energy, water, agriculture, health and education are priority areas
People who hold a dual U.S/Pakistani nationality, or those having a spouse, parent, fiancé or child over 18 years of age who is a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, are ineligible. And once if you have already received a scholarship program before, you will not be preferred as the new candidates.
You have to give two exams before applying:
Graduate Record Examination (GRE):
Minimum scores must be138 in the verbal and 136 in the quantitative
TOEFL:
TOEFL must be taken in two weeks of being notified and to bring proof of registration for the TOEFL with them to the interview with a minimum score of 90.
The deadline for submitting the application is May 17, 2017.
