After an increase in the number of WhatsApp hijacking cases across the world became more or less known to most of the world population, Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has officially announced an advisory for the general public of Pakistan to protect their WhatsApp accounts against hijacking. Furthermore, the main procedure issued by PTA enables two-step verification on the app to avoid the process of hijacking occurring on your device.The mobile phone users of the application which is WhatsApp have been directed to follow a four steps process of verification and protection of your WhatsApp account against the possible outcome of being hijacked.
The said process, consists of four steps which are given below, as released by the PTA

Moreover, reports of hijacked WhatsApp accounts have emerged inmany countries and have forced there respectable cyber-security agencies to issue security alerts to the general public of the said countries. They have even warned the general public about a relatively new method of hijacking WhatsApp accounts using information retrieved by the mobile providers’ voicemail systems, which is causing serious concerns over the protection provided by the developers of the very famous application we all know as WhatsApp.Moving on, as per the reports of various telecom experts, the hacks carried out by WhatsApp are one of the very worrying trends that the modern generation face. It has beenrevealed that about 90 cases on the subject of WhatsApp hacks were received by the Cyber Wing during the month November 2018, alone.
Pakistan Telecommunication Authority urges users to enable two factor Authentication
In Pakistan, according to some rumors, WhatsApp accounts were hacked in Karachi and one of the reasons being quoted for this to happen was the lack of awareness among the general public public of Pakistan.It was further revealedthat a set of hackers hacked the accounts of many different Pakistani citizens who hailed from thecity of Karachi. Nonetheless, the Media quoted the Cyber Crime wing of Federal Investigation Authority (FIA) saying that a lot of incidents of WhatsApp accounts hacking have been occurring lately and to control the flow of such cases is one of the objectives of the organization.
