The political situation of Pakistan has seen a roller-coaster effect in the past few days. Pulwama attack had led to the relations between the partitioned subcontinent deteriorate as the circumstances became very volatile and fragile. On the other end of the barrel, Pakistan welcomed Saudi Crown Prince, Mohammad Bin Salman (MBS) to hold progressive talks and to encourage a greater alliance between the two nations and to help Pakistan improve its economic status. However, due to the warm welcome that MBS received from PM Imran Khan personally, it wasn’t just going to be trade talks throughout the visit.
In an unprecedented move, the Crown prince ordered the release of 2107 Pakistani prisoners and the cases of the rest to be considered with immediate effect. This had been previously stressed by PM Khan last year when the two met, and yet again in the recent visit along with Labour rights in KSA. This encouraged MBS to look into the matter and to act upon it. Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi and the Federal Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry made the development public on Monday.

“HRH Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman has graciously agreed to free 2,107 Pakistani prisoners in Saudi Arabia with immediate effect. Cases of the remaining will be reviewed. People of Pakistan thank HRH for responding immediately to Prime Minister Imran Khan’s request,” the foreignminister tweeted.
