After their performance against India there was no way the Pakistan side was not going to show what they are capable of after excessive criticism brought the entire team and the management under scrutiny. On top of that pressure, there was the pressure for survival with both teams playing a must-win game to keep their chances alive of moving forward into the competition. One team was to be the victor and fortunately for Pakistani fans, that was Pakistan.
The toss went Pakistan’s way and the team elected to bat first. From the start of the innings Pakistan remained cautious showing that they would have to be careful to deal with this tricky South African side, a slow-down in between caused the run rate to drop but then it was all up hill for South Africa from there onwards with Harris Sohail completely obliterating the bowling side with an impressive and a much needed 89 which rocketed Pakistan to a grand total of 307. This was quite a big achievement considering how slow the run rate had been in the first 30 overs. South Africa comes to bat, and the most consistent performer in the side, Muhammad Amir is again at it with a LBW of Hashim Amla in his first over, which made it clear who wanted it more this time around, despite unsuccessful catches the score on board was at a safe distance from South African Batsmen and the bowling side is one that can always be relied upon to secure the win batting first.

It is still a sensitive position for Pakistan to be in with the top four teams at a point difference, however, England has surprised everyone of their inconsistency and Pakistan would be relying on them to get the job down and secure the place in the semi finals. England are yet to face the top teams of the table with New Zealand, India and Australia yet to go. Along with a little help from England Pakistan would have to win its matches against Sri Lanka, New Zealand and Afghanistan.
