During the recent political turmoil, Pakistan closed its airspace down due to security issues which has caused a huge number of delays in transit flights and flight which use Pakistani airspace to get to other countries. The lifting of the ban has been continuously been delayed by the Pakistani authorities who are taking more time than expected to get back up and running.
This delay has caused lots of international passengers deserted on airports with no confirmation as to when will their flights be resumed. Similarly, Pakistani travellers have also shared their thoughts on social media who were affected by this delay. The uncertainty present around the situation with India has led to Pakistan being extra cautious as India has been responding in a confused manner to the Pakistan’s message of peace. On one hand, there have been agreements over meetings in Delhi and Islamabad of notable officials, while there have been naval intrusions by the Indian navy, eventually forced back trying to enter Pakistan, on the other. Under such circumstances, the delay is understandable but not for those who have been left stranded on airports.

According to the official announcement, The Pakistan Airspace is said to be accessible 8th March 1PM (PAKISTAN STANDARD TIME) onwards. Pakistan’s location means that numerous flights especially from India use Pakistani airspace to reach the likes of Afghanistan, US and other countries. Lately, they have been forced to take longer routes, resulting in longer flights due to their inability to access Pakistani Airspace at this moment.
PAKISTAN AIRSPACE TO REMAIN CLOSED UNTIL 8TH MARCH
However, if we are to believe the announcement, then hopefully service will be resumed at the above mentioned time and while it might take additional time to get the services back in coordination and to avoid any major traffic, it still is a good sign to be notified of a date.
