China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is currently emerging opportunity to get more profits and this is the reason that routes like Gwadar, Skardu, and Turbat will help out the airlines to make huge profits.
Ex-CAA Additional Director, Mr. Malik shared his vies and said that Pakistan’s domestic air traffic saw an augment of 10% as compared to the international air traffic that stood at 4%.
He further declared that the airlines, due to rivalry in the sector, also reduced fares to catch the attention of more people. “The air ticket you got for Rs. 10,000 would have cost around Rs. 30, 000,” he maintained.
On the other hand, the entry of upcoming airlines will include new challenges for the already under pressure and struggling Pakistan International Airlines (PIA).
Moreover, the Gulf carriers, including UAE’s Emirates, Etihad Airways, and Qatar Airways, are giving a tough time by now to PIA as these overseas carriers are offering better services and cheaper rates than PIA on international routes. in addition, these carriers are state-funded.
PIA, on the other hand, is not ready to accept defeat just yet. PIA spokesperson, while responding to an email query, said, “Private airlines, especially foreign carriers, have maily resorted to price cuts, instead of going more towards customer satisfaction in terms of comfort and improved services.”
