With the leaks on the internet each day, one thing’s certain these days, the line between absurdity and reality is so slim that even the most unbelievable of renders turn out to be true at the end. That seems to be the case with the Nokia 9 Preview with a PENTA-LENS setup. YES! A total of FIVE rear cameras.
HMD made all the Nokia 9 related rumours true at the MWC which has been dominated by companies introducing foldable displays. HMD decided to stick to its roots of producing phones with exceptional cameras with a timely updates and a sturdy experience overall. Nokia 9 checks all those boxes.
HARDWARE:
The Nokia 9 PureViewhas a glass rear and an aluminium frame. It is an IP67-rated water-resistant and dustproof device. It measures 155 x 75 x 8mm and weighs 172 grams.The Nokia 9 PureView is fitted with a 5.99-inch OLED display that carries support for 2880 x 1440 pixels quad HD+ resolution, 18:9 aspect ratio, HDR10 and Always-on display. The display of the phone is shielded by Gorilla Glass 5. Also, it’s the first Nokia phone that comes with an optical in-display fingerprint sensor.

Internal include a Snapdragon 845(disappointing considering 2019 being the 855’s year). The SoC is supported by 6 GB of RAM. The internal storage of 128 GB.The smartphone is powered by 3,320mAh battery. It carries support for Quick Charge 3.0 and USB PD. Also, it is the company’s first phone to support 10W wireless charging.
CAMERA:
The penta-lens setup of the phone includes two 12-megapixel RGB sensors and three monochrome 12-megapixel sensors.All the five camera sensors of the Nokia 9 PureView can function simultaneously to capture a single image of 50-megapixel powered a dedicated image co-processor. Each image has 12.4 stops of dynamic range. It is a sensitivity measurement where the brightness of the image increases by twofold. With the help of the ToF sensor, the Nokia 9 PureView can capture a depth map with up to 1200 layers of depth data, compared to 7 to 12 planes in a normal smartphone, for up to 40 meters away from camera. The stats speak for themselves, the Nokia 9 will surely be making the Nokia Lumia 1020 proud!
Nokia 9 would be releasing with a price tag of $699 with pre-orders already underway and the phone shipping in March. HMD is reviving Nokia in the right ways and it seems like it would soon be able to regain its lost reputation with the unfortunate demise of Lumias.
