Invitations were sent out to people for a media event which will be held on the 4th of October in London, and this event is organized by Nokia brand licensee HMD Global. It is expected that in this event, the Finnish brand will most likely unveil a brand new smartphone, and in fact, right now, we don’t actually know what phone exactly will be launched – it could either be the Nokia 7.1 Plus or the Nokia X7. The upcoming smartphone has been amongst the leaks and rumors over the past couple of weeks, and the recent leaks give us an idea as to how the Nokia 7.1 Plus will supposedly look; however ambiguous it may be.
There is also the distinct possibility that this event in particular could be for the largely rumored flagship, the Nokia 9, however, a very recent report – as recent as this week has gone on to suggest that its launch will actually be pushed to MWC 2019, which is expected to be in the first half of next year.
An informal sort of launch event will be held by HMD Global in Central London, and while the presentation is set to be there on the 4th of October, exactly where the event will be held, the venue, is yet to be revealed.
Earlier this week, some alleged press renders of the Nokia 7.1 Plus were leaked, and these went on to show a display notch right in the front, apart from the vertical dial cameras which were present at the back of the phone.

In accordance to these leaked press renders, and the claims they have made, the Nokia 7.1 Plus will possess a design similar to the one we’ve seen on the Nokia 6.1 Plus. There also might be the possibility of a 19:9 display with a full-HD+ 1080×2280 pixel resolution. It is expected that the Nokia 7.1 Plus will go on to support Carl Zeiss optics, a Nokia logo, an Android One logo, all this integrated with a fingerprint sensor to go on the back of the phone. And also with accordance to this particular report, it is suggested that the phone will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 SoC.
On the contrary side of things however, there are a few interesting things going on. Another leak recently surfaced has claimed that the display panel on the upcoming Nokia X7 or indeed the Nokia 7.1 does not appear to have a notch on the top at all. In addition to this, the leak has suggested that the phone will support a massive 6.9 inch display.
So as you can see for yourself, there is a massive amount of confusion surrounding the event which is supposed to be held on the 4th of October. However, the good news is that the day isn’t too far away, and we’ll know quite soon exactly what Nokia has in mind.
