It’s looking less and less likely that search-engine giant Google will release an XL variant for its latest flagship phone this year. Going through some of the code of the latest beta version of the company’s search app, some references have been found with regards to the company’s upcoming 2020 Pixel lineup.
Over the course of the past two months or so, two codenames were especially being tracked : Redfin and Bramble. It was assumed that the latter of these two was actually Google’s designation with regards to the Pixel 5 XL. However, now, a new string of code found in the Search app goes on to associate Bramble with a phone going by the name of “Pixel 4a (5G).

Before this latest revelation, it was actually suggested that Bramble would in fact feature with the Snapdragon 765 processor. There already have been rumors coming up in previous times that had suggested that Google doesn’t actually plan on to use Qualcomm’s top-of-the-line Snapdragon 865 within its flagship Pixel 5 XL. Hence, needless to say that this particular piece of information actually goes on to suggest that both the Pixel 4a 5G as well as the Pixel 5 will actually feature with the same processor in the Snapdragon 765G. It is also quite possible then that both these phones might launch at the same time this year.
A very important piece of context that should be mentioned here is the fact that we expect the long-overdue Pixel 4a to feature with the Snapdragon 730 processor. And hence, it is in fact quite likely that the company will end up launching three phones in this year : the mid-ranger in the Pixel 4a, the 5G enabled 4a 5G and finally : the flagship smartphone in the Pixel 5 – which of course as you would imagine, would command the highest price amongst the lot.
