In yesterday’s session of the Lower House, Imran Khan was elected as the 22nd prime minister of Pakistan after getting 176 votes of National Assembly members against his rival Shehbaz Sharif who secured 96 votes.
National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser announced his victory by saying that “Imran Khan has secured 176 votes”. Since Imran needed a simple majority of 172 in the 342-seat National Assembly to take power and so he got 176 to become the PM of Pakistan.
“No dacoit will be given any NRO” IK declared in his speech following his election as leader of the house on Friday. In this statement, he was referring to the National Reconciliation Ordinance, which was a controversial law formed by Pervez Musharraf former military dictator to drip corruption charges against dozens of politicians.
Imran clearly declared that “We will not spare those who have looted the nation, nobody had been able to blackmail me in the past, and nobody can do so now,” he added.
“Yell as loud as you can. If you want to stage a sit-in, I’ll provide you the container. I spent 126 days there [D-Chowk],” said Imran in the speech which was disturbed by the loud sloganeering of the members of the PML-N and its allies. “We will also provide you with containers and free food and drinks.”

The former cricketer needed a simple majority of 172 in the 342-seat National Assembly to take power.
Furthermore, the PM-elect said he had fought for 22 years to achieve this goal and no military dictator had turned-out him to be in the position he is at the moment. “I’ve struggled. I haven’t gotten here because of my father. Only my leader, the Quaid-i-Azam, struggled for more than 40 years,” he said.
“We will debate in this parliament how to recover the money from these ‘thieves’ who looted the nation and inject it into schools, hospitals and in the future of this nation. We will collect money from the people so we don’t have to beg anyone for aid.” He added.
On the other hand, today PM will take oath from President of Pakistan in the presence of all three military officials.
