Netflix users should get ready to pay slightly more charges as now the company is raising its subscription price for the first time in 2 years. But, the prices are being raised only for the Standard tier and Premium tier.
The Premium tier that provides Ultra HD streaming for up to 4 users at the same time and costs $11.99 usually, now with an increase of $2 more it will now be priced at $13.99.
The Standard subscription, which offers HD streaming for 2 users simultaneously and charges $9.99 on the whole, will now be priced at $10.99 per month, a dollar more than before.
However, the basic subscription’s cost for Netflix users will stay same as earlier at $7.99 per month.
Here’s what a Netflix spokesperson said in a report:
“From time to time, Netflix plans and pricing are adjusted as we add more exclusive TV shows and movies, introduce new product features and improve the overall Netflix experience to help members find something great to watch even faster,”
Apart from this incremental in charges, Netflix increased the subscription price in 2015. This shows that it is the first time in 2 years that Netflix has augmented its prices again.
Currently, the new charges are applicable only for US users. But soon Netflix will charge the new prices in other countries as well.
Netflix is planning to spend a lot of money for the Netflix original content. According to Netflix chief content officer, the company will spend $7 billion on the original content in 2018.
Netflix is basically a subscription-based service; if someone gets a subscription then it lets the user acquire access to all the libraries of digital media content available on the website. It also allows several users to obtain a right to use the service through one user’s subscription.
