The government’s performance reviews are underway in each sector of the government and one sector that they have particularly flourished in is the sector of accountability for ‘all’. The word all is in inverted commas for a reason that will be mentioned later into the article. The performance review of the government’s watchdog for any black money and unregistered assets have produced impressive results as mentioned by NAB Chairman Retired Justice Javed Iqbal. Rs 71 Billion in 22 months.
Comparative figures of the last 22 months are also indicative of NAB’s excellent performance as the bureau has recovered and deposited Rs71 billion in the national exchequer which is a record achievement. Reputed national and international organisations such as Transparency International, World Economic Forum, Pildat and Mishal Pakistan have appreciated NAB’s efforts to eradicate corruption from society. According to Gillani Research Foundation and Gallup Survey, 59 per cent of people have shown confidence in NAB. This is not only lending quality to work but also ensuring that no single individual influences official proceedings of NAB. Under the quantified grading system, NAB headquarters and regional bureaus are being evaluated on mid-term and annual basis at given criteria, which has proved very successful and the performance of NAB regional bureaus was getting increased day by day due to regular monitoring and inspections,More than 50,000 character-building societies have been established in colleges and universities of the country.

So here’s the case now. NAB was formed to rid the country of corruption, break down corrupt politicians and money launderers and bring back the looted wealth to the country. So now the question remains, whether all of this justice was for opposition parties only? NAB has slowly and gradually become a revenge plot rather than an organisation to help the government with recovering the wealth that should be spent on the betterment of the country. This is the sad reality of politics, biasness is at the root of it and no matter which government comes into power, it focuses more on getting back at opposition parties than making the country a better place to live and nourish.
However, with all that out of the way, NAB has been very successful and has recovered a massive amount of wealth which if used in the right way can really help the country.
